Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your safari guide. After a brief introduction to your upcoming adventure, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe. This day is reserved for relaxation, allowing you to acclimate to Uganda’s warm climate and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

After an early breakfast, start your scenic drive from Kampala to Kasese, the gateway to the Rwenzori Mountains. As you travel through Uganda’s lush countryside, you’ll pass rolling hills, vibrant tea plantations, and charming villages. A stop in Fort Portal for lunch provides an opportunity to enjoy stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains as you approach Kasese.
Upon arrival in Kasese, check into your hotel and meet your mountain trekking team, including your guide, porters, and cook. The evening will be spent preparing for the challenging trek ahead.

Your Rwenzori Mountain trekking adventure starts today! After an early breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park headquarters in Nyakalengija. Complete registration and receive a briefing on the trek before setting out on the trail toward Nyabitaba Hut.
The trail begins with a steady climb through dense montane forest, where you might spot various bird species and primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys. The ascent is challenging but rewarding, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. After approximately 5-6 hours of trekking, reach Nyabitaba Hut for your first night in the mountains.

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the Rwenzori Mountains. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend through bamboo and heather forests, crossing streams and rocky terrain. Unique Afro-alpine vegetation, including giant lobelias and groundsels, adds a surreal touch to the trek.
After 6-7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at John Matte Hut, offering panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori range. Named after the renowned explorer John Matte, this hut provides an excellent vantage point for observing the mountains.

As you continue your ascent, the landscape becomes more rugged and the altitude more challenging. The trail leads through Bigo Bog, a high-altitude wetland with wooden walkways to navigate the boggy terrain.
The highlight of today’s trek is reaching Lake Bujuku, a glacial lake surrounded by towering peaks. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Bujuku Hut, situated at the base of Mount Speke. The hut offers excellent views of Mount Stanley, the highest peak in the Rwenzori Mountains.

Today’s trek is both challenging and exhilarating as you ascend to Elena Hut, the highest hut on the Rwenzori trekking circuit. The trail becomes steeper and rockier as you approach the snowline, with breathtaking views of glaciers and peaks.
Located at 4,541 meters, Elena Hut serves as the base camp for those attempting to summit Margherita Peak, the highest point in the Rwenzori range. The evening is spent acclimatizing to the high altitude and preparing for the summit attempt.

Today is the climax of your Rwenzori Mountain trekking adventure – the summit attempt of Margherita Peak. You’ll start the ascent early in the morning, navigating through glaciers, snowfields, and rocky terrain. Although the climb is physically demanding, the view from the summit is breathtaking, offering a panoramic view of the Congo Basin and the Rwenzori peaks.
After celebrating at the summit, you’ll begin the descent back to Elena Hut. Rest and refuel before continuing to Kitandara Hut, located at 4,023 meters. The descent is challenging but rewarding.

The descent continues today as you travel from Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut. The trail takes you through lush valleys, past glacial lakes, and across steep ridges. The vegetation changes as you descend, with heather forests giving way to bamboo and montane forests.
After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Guy Yeoman Hut, situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by waterfalls and dense forest. The hut offers a welcome respite after several days of challenging trekking.
Overnight: Guy Yeoman Hut
On your final day of trekking, descend from Guy Yeoman Hut back to the park headquarters in Nyakalengija. The trail follows the Mubuku River, passing through bamboo forests and open moorland. Reflect on your incredible journey as you descend.
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you’ll receive your Rwenzori trekking certificate, a testament to your achievement. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Kasese for a well-deserved rest and celebration of your successful trek.

After breakfast, depart Kasese and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s premier wildlife destinations. The park is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including savannah, wetlands, and forests, and is home to a wide variety of wildlife.
Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive in the park’s northern sector. Look out for elephants, buffalo, lions, and the elusive leopards that roam the savannah. This game drive provides an excellent opportunity to spot Africa’s iconic wildlife in their natural habitat.
Overnight: Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Your day begins with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, a prime location for spotting large herds of buffalo, elephants, and antelope. The morning hours are ideal for wildlife viewing as animals are most active.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. The boat cruise offers a unique perspective of the park’s wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. The channel’s banks are often teeming with wildlife, making it a great spot for photographers.
