Your exhilarating journey begins with your arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda. Upon landing, you will be warmly welcomed by our experienced guide who will brief you on the upcoming adventure. After the briefing, you will embark on a scenic drive through the beautiful Rwandan countryside, passing through rolling hills and lush landscapes that have earned Rwanda the nickname “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Our journey takes us through the bustling city of Kigali, where you may have a brief city tour if time allows. Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, is known for its cleanliness, vibrant culture, and poignant history. You may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay respects and learn about Rwanda’s past and its remarkable recovery.
Continuing our drive, we head towards the Rwanda-Uganda border at Cyanika or Katuna. After clearing immigration formalities, we cross into Uganda and continue our journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its biodiversity, including its population of mountain gorillas.
Upon arrival at Bwindi, you will check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. The lodges in Bwindi offer a range of options, from luxury accommodations to more budget-friendly choices, all providing a comfortable and serene environment surrounded by nature.
Today is the highlight of your safari – gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and guidelines of gorilla trekking. Here, you will be assigned to a group based on fitness levels and the location of the gorilla families. Each group is led by experienced guides and trackers who are knowledgeable about the gorillas and their habitat.
The trek can vary in duration, ranging from a few hours to a full day, depending on the movements of the gorillas. As you hike through the dense forest, your guides will provide insights into the flora and fauna of Bwindi, enhancing your understanding and appreciation of this unique ecosystem.
The moment you encounter a gorilla family is truly awe-inspiring. Watching these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, observing their behaviours, and witnessing their interactions is an experience like no other. You will have a precious hour to spend with the gorillas, during which you can take photographs and videos (without flash) to capture this once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
After the trek, you will return to the park headquarters to receive a certificate acknowledging your successful gorilla trek. You will then return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the incredible experience. The evening can be spent at leisure, enjoying the tranquillity of the surroundings and sharing stories of the day’s adventures over dinner.
On the final day of your 3 Days Bwindi Gorilla, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning your journey back to Kigali. The drive offers another opportunity to take in the stunning landscapes of Uganda and Rwanda, passing through picturesque villages and scenic vistas.
If time permits, you may have the chance to explore more of Kigali before your departure. Kigali offers various attractions, including local markets where you can purchase souvenirs, art galleries showcasing Rwandan talent, and cafés where you can sample Rwandan coffee.
Finally, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an unforgettable 3-day Bwindi gorilla trekking safari.
