Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. The journey from the airport to the hotel takes about 45 minutes, allowing you to relax and take in the sights of Uganda’s vibrant capital. Once at your hotel, you can unwind and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead.
Your safari begins with an early morning drive to Jinja, known as the “Adventure Capital of East Africa.” The journey from Kampala to Jinja takes approximately 2-3 hours, passing through lush landscapes and rural villages. As you approach Jinja, you’ll be greeted by the scenic views of the Nile River, which plays a central role in the day’s activities.
Upon arrival in Jinja, you’ll head straight to the rafting center for a safety briefing and gear fitting. White water rafting on the Nile is a thrilling experience that takes you through a series of Grade 4 and 5 rapids. Whether you’re a seasoned rafter or a first-timer, the adrenaline rush as you navigate the powerful rapids is unmatched. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the stunning scenery, including lush riverbanks, towering trees, and abundant birdlife.
If time permits after your rafting adventure, you can opt to visit the Source of the Nile, where the river begins its journey northward. This site holds historical and geographical significance, offering a peaceful contrast to the excitement of rafting. You can take a boat ride to the exact spot where the Nile emerges from Lake Victoria, with opportunities for photography and reflection.
After a day filled with adventure, you’ll return to Kampala in the late afternoon. The evening is yours to relax at your hotel, perhaps enjoying a leisurely dinner or exploring the city’s nightlife.
After an early breakfast, you’ll depart from Kampala and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located about 176 kilometers north of the capital. The drive takes approximately 3 hours, offering views of Uganda’s beautiful countryside along the way. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild, making it a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
Upon arrival at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you’ll embark on a guided nature walk to track the white rhinos. This experience allows you to get up close to these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. As you walk through the savannah, your expert guide will share insights into the behavior, conservation efforts, and challenges facing rhinos in Uganda. Start your day with an early breakfast at Amuka Lodge before heading out to Budongo Forest, located within Murchison Falls National Park. The drive from Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to Budongo Forest takes about 2 hours, taking you through scenic landscapes and rural communities.
Upon arrival at Budongo Forest, you’ll embark on a mid-morning chimpanzee tracking adventure in the Kaniyo Pabidi section. Budongo Forest is home to one of the largest populations of chimpanzees in Uganda, and tracking these primates is a highlight of any safari. As you trek through the dense forest, your guide will point out various species of flora and fauna, and once the chimpanzees are located, you’ll have the chance to observe them in their natural habitat. The experience of seeing these intelligent creatures up close is truly unforgettable.
After your chimpanzee tracking experience, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch before continuing your journey to the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival at your lodge in the northern part of the park, you’ll have time to relax and settle in. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge, where you can also take in the stunning views of the park and its wildlife. The evening is yours to unwind and prepare for the next day’s adventures.
Your day begins with an early morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most diverse national park. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and numerous species of antelopes. The early morning is the best time for game viewing, as the animals are most active during this time. Your guide will take you to some of the park’s best spots for wildlife sightings, ensuring a memorable safari experience.
After your morning game drive, you’ll return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile, one of the most popular activities in Murchison Falls National Park. The boat cruise takes you upstream towards the base of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and plunges over 40 meters. Along the way, you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the rare shoebill stork. The sight of the falls from the river is truly awe-inspiring and offers a unique perspective of this natural wonder.
Following the boat cruise, you’ll return to your lodge for a relaxing evening. Dinner will be served at the lodge, where you can reflect on the day’s adventures and enjoy the sounds of the African wilderness.
On your final day, you’ll visit the top of Murchison Falls to witness the incredible power of the Nile as it crashes through a narrow gorge and creates a spectacular waterfall. The views from the top are breathtaking, offering a different perspective of the falls and the surrounding landscape. This is a perfect opportunity for photography and to appreciate the sheer force of nature.
After visiting the top of the falls, you’ll begin your journey back to Entebbe. The drive takes you through Uganda’s picturesque countryside, with a stop for lunch along the way. As you travel, you’ll have the chance to take in the sights and sounds of rural Uganda, passing through small towns and villages. Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your incredible 5-day safari.
